Prague is Gothic, Prague is Stunning, Prague is uber Picturesque or in one sentence Prague got to be in your bucket list if it is not already there!
I was simply stunned by Prague and how the city completely transforms from an elegant European beauty to a totally electric metropolis as its skyline embraces wonderful hues of sunset. Everything here is enchanting from the bridges to the river, the cafes, the beer gardens and the fairy tale castle needless to mention the well maintained parks along the banks of Vltava that look no less than a piece of your favorite pastry specially when you have been craving for one for ages!
My experience with Prague was Perfect even with these 3 mistakes that I wish to share with you all so that when you head to this magical land you are better informed than I was – bookmark this for your trip to Prague :
Mistake 1 : Paying for entry in the Golden Lane inside the castle
Trust me the views are already great from the freely accessible areas of the castle so unless and until you are a big Czech history lover I would recommend not spending money for entering the paid areas of the castle. The choice obviously lies with you, I personally regret spending my money on this. Oh yes, this lane called “golden lane” has shops too that sells souvenirs that are quite readily available in the local markets of the city as well. The fees allows you to access the old houses where many famous personalities of yesteryear used to live. The lane also features “Franz Kafka” house who has earned high accolades in literature so in case if you are “Kafkaesque” fan then please ignore this point (its’s just that I never heard of him before visiting golden lane). In a nutshell, go for it if you are really keen on getting that feel of entering old houses and jails but if you are just after the beautiful views and a nice stroll inside the castle then save that money for something better may be a nice “crystal bracelet” what say!
Mistake 2 : Beer Gardens are not best enjoyed at night
If you don’t know yet Prague has quite a few amazing beer gardens. These beer gardens are huge beer taverns in well maintained parks often at a height so that while you are chugging that chilled beer of yours you can enjoy the view of the city below as well. We went to the most famous one the Letna beer gardens but by the time we reached there it was already quite dark. The park had turned quite silent and looked spooky. Also, we saw quite a few weird guys I guess doing drugs which again was not a pleasant sight (not in the beer garden but on the sidewalks). So, I suggest do go for these beer gardens but make sure that you try to make it here during daylight so that you not only enjoy the park but also the city view more and hopefully will not encounter any night crawlers!
Mistake 3 : Not booking the Beer Spa experience in advance
Okay this one is quite important, never knew even a beer spa session would be in such high demand that we would not get an on the spot ticket to it but yes it’s true. One of the items on my list was to experience the beer spa in this beer chugging Czech capital but luck was not on our side or may be you can say I underestimated the popularity of these spa sessions! Anyways, there is always a next time but for you I must add do experience these amazing one of a kind spas by booking in “advance” and let me know what did I miss 😉
So, these were my 3 Mistakes and with this it’s “Over and Out” for now till I come back with another set of my crazy travel tales!
