Opa! is what comes to my mind when I think about India’s most sort after party destination “Goa” (round of applause please!). I know you all will agree that there is something magical about “Goan Air” which brings out the hippie in us! I often say, this place is certainly one of those places where “No one can go just once”, it mesmerizes you so much that you are forced to come and meet this free spirited beauty again and again! But after visiting Goa every year at least once from past 5 years I have realized that as the number of visits increase I tend to search more for activities and ideas beyond Beaches, Churches, LPK, Club Cabana, Casinos and Curlies so while I was preparing for my fourth visit to this party paradise last year, I came across a gem, “ Wildernest” nestled in one of the “Biodiversity Hotspots” in Sahyadri aka Western Ghats. As I digged deeper, I fell in love with this beauty and booked it instantly for 2 days on my 4 day Goa escapade!

go Car recommended (own or hired) – The resort arranges a cab pickup and drop from your hotel/airport at an additional cost which is not part of the package. We got ourselves picked from Club Mahindra’s property in South Goa and directly got us dropped at airport after our stay. It is however closer from North Goa than South.

Addition to the Goa Routine

You can always club it up with your usual Goa routine just like I did! Okay I agree we certainly cannot get bored of Goa beaches, clubs and casinos but yes we can always make room for something new on every visit! For 2 days, I did the usual sun bathing and strolling around the various clubs and beaches and then the next 2 days I found myself in a heaven called “Wildernest”.

From Club Mahindra in South Goa, It took us 2 hours to reach this pristine jungle beauty “Wildernest”. As you ascend into the lap of Western Ghats to reach the resort located at 800 feet above sea level, get ready to be enchanted by the charm and persona of Shayadri which is one of the UNESCO’s World Heritage sites and is also one of the eight “hottest hot-spots” of biological diversity in the world!

When the car stopped, we were welcomed by 2 gentlemen nicely dressed in khaki “forest ranger” short pants and shirt. We were then escorted into an open jeep till the entrance gate of the resort, that entire ride felt like a jungle safari in Africa. The place is nothing less than a perfect jungle marvel. We were allocated a cottage, the cottages are basically tree houses from where you can gaze the natural beauty of the Western Ghats day and night and let me tell you if you are a nature lover than “This is It” , you can even look at the green enchanting mountains while you are bathing thanks to the glass wall!

Infinity pool – Forget your worries, put on that sunscreen and let your spirit float till “infinity” in their pool.

Foot trails – They have some staff designated as Naturalist and you can go on a stroll with them while they will show you the flora and fauna around.

Machans and hides – Take that chilled beer of yours along and spend some time in the lap of nature in these hideout spots at the resort called Machan and get ready to be spellbound by the panoramic beauty.

Treks and hike – Get moving and go beyond just gazing, feel the charm of shayadri and arrange a trek with the resort staff and you can go on either a morning trek or an evening one or both. If you are there in Monsoon then do take time and go for the waterfall trek.

Bonfire – Enjoy the bonfire after a hearty Konkan dinner where you may share/listen to stories and also a good way to know the natives and their lifestyle in this part of the country.

Now one thing, don’t forget to carry comfortable shoes and mosquito repellent cream (remember you are going to the jungle!).

So, what are you waiting for! Just go ahead and book your Goa Getaway right now with a jungle twist this time J

  1. This’s the info that will help me. I’ve been in India 2 times several places but Goa. So good to have some info. I like your style of writing doesn’t make bored :)) Well organised page as well. Ciao!!!

  2. Nice blog! I like how you describe your experience in India. It shows that place has so much to offer. My favorite part is when you had a bonfire activity with the natives as you listened to their incredible lifestyle stories.
